The answer to the last question is the simplest: with the quarantine more alternatives emerged to have little to do at home. Thus, this Internet television service has become considerably popular in recent months.

Still not sure what it is and how it works? Then follow the next paragraphs and find out what IPTV means!

What is IPTV?

Acronym for Internet Protocol Television, IPTV simply means Internet television. In other words, you access the channels that you are used to. But when it comes to television, you can still accept it on your smartphone, computer, and basically any device with a Wi-Fi connection and hit IPTV applications.

It is to ensure, you can watch television without cables or antennas, depending only on your internet connection.

Some services even work directly from Internet browsers, which greatly simplifies the lives of their users. It’s worth mentioning here that smart TVs are still included.

What is IPTV for?

Now that you know what IPTV means, now let’s talk about what this service is for. As you may have noticed before, the IPTV function is exceedingly simple: watch series, movies, soap operas, and variety shows without depending on cable television services or antennas, which can be too faulty.

Another preeminence of IPTV is that, in addition to watching television channels, you still have a hit to videos on demand, as if it were a Netflix. In other words, if there is no good absence in the channels, you can still go to see movies available in the catalog of IPTV services that you hired.

Some services still have a feature that allows you to bite into shows that will play when inappropriate, allowing you to watch them later.

How does IPTV work?

The operation of an IPTV is still very simple and we have already answered it in the length of the article. When you use an IPTV service, the television channels are transmitted through your Internet signal, sometimes through the antenna or cable television.

You can use an IPTV in two ways. The first is directly from your browser, be it on your computer or smartphone.

Some shows still pick up IPTV signals and therefore offer more options to personalize your TV viewing experience, such as determining the numbering of each channel and opting out of channel lists to understand what’s on, among others. One of the most recommended is Kodi, which we have already covered here on AppTuts.

On top of these two alternatives, you can still use devices called TV Box. They usually come equipped with an application to configure and use IPTV, in addition to YouTube and conventional streaming services.

Now the question you should ask yourself: do I need a solid internet connection to use IPTV? That is what we will answer in the future section!

How many megabytes of Internet do you need to run IPTV?

Withholding what IPTV means leads to another question: how many megabytes of internet do you need to be able to watch IPTV flawlessly and in HD quality? Well, even if you do your best to improve your internet connection, in fact, not all speeds will be able to run programs easily.

Connections below 5 Mbps only allow you to watch IPTV abonnement in low quality, from 360p to 480p. If it is below 1 Mbps, it will be extremely difficult to see.

Starting at 5 Mbps, things tend to change shape. In this sense, it is already possible to watch your favorite channels in conventional HD quality, which is 720p.

Full HD will require twice as much. Only connections above 10 Mbps will be able to play 1080p channels.

4K will still only be achievable with a robust connection. We estimate that only connections greater than 35 mbps, preferably 100 mbps, will be able to reproduce programming at this level of quality.

Yesterday, without seizure, it is interesting to check your television dummy. There is no point in switching to an ultra-fast connection to watch the 4K channels of these services if your TV works as higher in Full HD. In this example, a channel that is in 4K will only display the 1080p that the TV is capable of playing.

So be sure to study what you have suitable and what you can improve before switching to a full setup for watching IPTV.
