How to Build Resilience in Hard Times

The world has been going through a tough time, what with the never-ending coronavirus pandemic and its ensuing havoc on personal and professional lives. Apart from that, we also have to contend with our own everyday tragedies that affect us in very profound ways. Under the circumstances, resilience is the only way to get through even the hardest of times. As long as you are resilient, you can handle just about anything that life throws at you. The question is, how to go about becoming resilient against such tough times in the first place. Here are a few ways that can help you become more resilient and in control of your life:

  • Practice acceptance

All of us react to serious events and situations in our way. For many people, if the situation is stressful (whether it is workplace stress or university stress), they aim to protect themselves by just simply refusing that such a bad situation has happened. This is because denial gives us a sense of control. In addition, we end up believing that we can ride out the storm by ignoring it completely. Unfortunately, denial has the ability to blind us from the truth and it only prolongs the pain.

For example, not believing in the threat of COVID 19 even if one is infected won’t make the disease go away. On the contrary, it will simply mean that there will be a delay in treatment and the patient will feel considerably worse before he or she starts to feel better. In a nutshell, living in a state of near-constant denial will only mean that you will not be able to adapt to your new circumstances, which in turn will mean that you won’t be able to seek the right solutions or take any action that will help jumpstart the healing process.

  • Go to an Iboga Retreat

Such a retreat will help you to recharge your batteries and make sure that you are more in tune with your inner self. An Iboga Retreat Program helps you to cleanse yourself of the negativity that you may be carrying inside you. Moreover, it is a spiritual and psychological way of helping you to connect with your inner nature. As a matter of fact, attending an Iboga Retreat will help you to take a break so that you will be able to relax and come back all that much stronger. Such a program will also help you to reevaluate your life and your priorities so that you will be able to become more resilient than ever before. Once you come back from such a retreat, you will be able to handle life’s challenges very convincingly indeed.

  • You should try to reach out to others

If you are going through a particularly tough time, you should consider connecting with family, friends, and well-wishers. This holds particularly true if your problem requires a collective solution. Your friends and relatives will help to ease all of your stress and boost your mood too. Ultimately, they can also help you to make sense of a world that you cannot understand due to the problems you face day-to-day. Your people won’t judge you or consider you weak because you have not made it through challenging times unscathed. Rather they will be there to listen to you and make you feel better.

  • Invest in a bit of self-care

Living through some really tough times can be both physically and mentally draining for anyone who has to live through such situations. It is very simple really, heightened stress might lead to a very serious health problem such as impaired immune and digestive systems. Moreover, it will leave you at greater risk of stroke and heart attack.  This is why you will need to invest in self-care so that you know that your number one priority is your own self. Until that happens, you might end up prioritizing other people instead of your own self.

  • Conclusion

Life is always a mix of good and bad circumstances. However, we can become resilient enough to handle the bad, if we surround ourselves with people who care about us, and we accept what cannot be changed. It is also a good idea to go to an Iboga Retreat to charge one’s batteries and come back stronger.
